Clinical Psychology is not simply the delivery of techniques.
Before deciding what to do, I want to understand what is happening.
That may involve biological, psychological, developmental, relational, occupational and environmental factors.
For one person, anxiety may be the central problem.
For another it may be secondary to trauma, ADHD, chronic overwork or a relationship that has become unsafe.
Depression may be an illness in its own right, a response to loss or burnout, or part of another psychological pattern.
Repeated relationship conflict may be relational, but it may also involve ADHD, trauma, attachment, family history, emotional regulation or competing life demands.
The treatment should follow the formulation.
The person should not have to fit the technique.
